The WETA Effect

In this video, Storybrain takes a look at what he calls “The WETA Effect” – the oversaturation of CGI in movies that creates beautiful, but ultimately fake images. He lays it all out pretty well, I must say, and, as much as I love some of Peter Jackson’s work, I think Storybrain is right: Jackson is, in large part, to blame. If you look at the Lord of the Rings movies, there’s CGI, but there’s a balance between real stuff and computer generated stuff. But if you look at King Kong and everything after it, it’s just all CGI. Hmm. At least Mad Max: Fury Road got it right!
