Before They Were Stars: Paul Feig on “Dirty Dancing: The TV Series”

Paul Feig is currently one of the top comedy directors in Hollywood and gladly accepted the challenge of doing a long-awaited reboot of Ghostbusters. So what 1980s movie is he going to reboot next? Dirty Dancing? With Melissa McCarthy as Baby Houseman? Well, believe it or not, Feig does have some experience with that. In 1988, he was a cast member on a TV series version of Dirty Dancing, which aired on CBS for eleven episodes before it was cancelled. That really isn’t too surprising as I just don’t see the rather simple premise of Dirty Dancing being able to generate enough material for a long-term television series.
