The story of a young girl and the Giant who introduces her to the wonders and perils of Giant Country.
Wow, I had no idea this was in production! It’s been a while since we’ve had a decent adaptation of a Roald Dahl story, and I think that Spielberg is the perfect person to deliver one. He won’t get bogged down in his own crazy visual aesthetic the way Tim Burton did with Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. He’s also made the wise decision to make the protagonist a girl instead of a boy like the original novel, which I think is a welcome change. I don’t have much more to say on this topic, because the teaser is exactly that: just a tease. It gives us the set up, a taste of the fantasy wonder to come, and then leaves us wanting more. I just hope the giants in this are better than the ones in Jack the Giant Slayer.
The BFG comes out July 1, 2016.
