To commemorate the highly-anticipated opening of the new James Bond film, Skyfall, here’s a “Before They Were Stars” feature which is a pop culture geek’s dream. Where else are you going to find 007, Belloq and Wedge Antilles all acting together in the same scene?! In 1996, a young Daniel Craig made a guest appearance on the Tales from the Crypt episode, “Smoke Wrings”, as a guy who pitches a device to an ad agency which will alter people’s minds and cause them to buy certain products. Of course, it turns out that Craig’s character is a lunatic who’s working for another lunatic played by Paul Freeman, best known for his role as Belloq in Raiders of the Lost Ark. And the hero who eventually stops them? He’s played by none other than Denis Lawson, best known for his recurring role as Wedge Antilles in the original Star Wars trilogy.
