After some seriously lackluster early trailers, a new preview for World War Z, which still, confusingly, has nothing to do with the famous book of the same name, has debuted and it’s…well, it looks more like a trailer, at least. There’s a sense of plot progression here, as we get to know a bit more about the personal conflict the main character is facing outside of the central conflict which seems to be an overzealous particle rendering engine. But even in spite of this trailer looking half-decent, I’m still left shaking my head at this movie. It looks like Battle: Los Angeles with zombies, and that movie stunk. I’m not a huge Brad Pitt fan…so what, exactly, is the appeal of this supposed to be? Am I supposed to love it just because it supposedly has zombies in it? Even though the zombies aren’t featured except in big, fake, CGI waves? Doesn’t the marketing team for this movie realize that they’re already alienating zombie fans by stealing the title to a great zombie book and not doing anything interesting with it?
World War Z comes out June 21, 2013.
